2006 Cardinale Napa

Wow, this was monstrous, loaded with complexity, big explosive black cherry and currant fruit, framed by tobacco and spice, herbs, and beautifully integrated oak. On the palate, muscular, medium+ tannin, black cherry punch in the face, layered with spices, a brilliant balance, medium acidity, and a big time presence, and an awesome finish.

2006 Izadi Reserva Rioja

This red was right up my alley. Purple ruby color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, coffee, cherry, blueberry, blackberry, meat, cigar, some earth and some oak too. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, medium+ body, big fruit, layered spice and mineral, good balance and really nice length to the finish. I want more of this beauty! Buy this wine!

Broke this out last night craving some aged Cabernet Sauvignon. Purple to ruby color. On the palate, dry, medium+ body, medium tannin, medium acidity, layered spices, explosive fruit, and good herb component, that carried through a good finish. Still lots of life left in this wine.

2006 Chateau Tour du Roc Milon Pauillac

2006 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley

Black purple color. On the nose, youthful, plums, cherries, black berries, cassis, spice box, cedar, lots of oak, and no earth to speak to. On the Palate, dry, big luscious fruit bomb, medium+ body, medium tannin, medium acidity, with good depth, and a solid finish. More delicious but slightly less complex as the Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon I had a few nights back.

2006 Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla

On the palate, dry, medium intensity, medium+ body, medium tannin, and good acidity. With nicely integrated spice flavors, some bell pepper, black fruit, not the most intense flavors, but beautiful balance, and a solid finish.

2006 Nashwauk Shiraz Mclaren Vale

Black ruby color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, black plum, blackberry, black pepper, cured meat, dried herbs, chocolate shake, with plenty of oak and no earth to speak to. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, silky with medium tannins, medium- acidity, a creamy chocolate shake with good spice and black fruit. Descent finish on this Shiraz of moderate complexity.

2006 Gaja Ca’marcanda Magari

A gift from a colleague, blend is 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc. Purple to garnet color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, currant, leather, chalky soil, chocolate, with cherry, some dried herbs, tobacco, oak and earth, the fruit is is pure but definitely on the back burner here. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, medium acidity, medium tannins, good balance, pure black currant fruit, leather, tobacco, and certain minerality, with layers of flavors, and good complexity. I have always and continue to have a soft spot for this wine, and it keeps delivering.
