I had this one in a beach town a few hours away from Montevideo. Since I know squat about wine production in Uruguay, I asked the waiter to pick a good one. Very inky intense black purple color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, stewed black fruit, leather, cracked pepper, no earth, and not all that oaky. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, medium+ tannin, medium acidity, medium+ body, intense blackberry, black plum, blueberry, some wild flowers, and black pepper. Not sure I liked this wine for about 40 minutes. But alas after some air got to it an angular wine gained it’s balance, and finished strong.
