An 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon blend I picked up after a tasting two weeks ago, tonight was the first time I got around to popping a bottle. What a score, shocking depth for the money. Ruby to purple color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, black cherry, plum, currant, violets, anise, dried cranberry, loaded with mineral, so much depth with oak and earth. On the palate, dry, medium body, medium+ intensity, medium tannins, balanced and layered, this wine will stop you in your tracks, cherries, currants, leather, spices, this wine goes deep! Buy it Now!

These folks are really into jazz and I love them for it. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, black plums, spice, black tea, bark, something dark and brooding, moderate oak, with no earth to speak to. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, sexy and exotic, silky tannins, beautiful balance, and the exotic spice finish rocks. Not all that Sangiovese to me, but delicious.
Purple ruby color. Produced using 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Syrah grapes. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, plums and cherries, black tea, anise, leather, dried herbs, framed by chalky soil component, and wrapped in a new world style french oak package. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, medium tannin, medium acidity, nice structure and balance, nicely layered, with a solid finish. The fruit on this wine is just ripe enough to wear the oak layers. Great $20 wine that will continue to evolve from a while.
I’d never even heard of this region before today. Apparently, this small DOCG in Tuscany has to have Cabernet Sauvignon in it, and it’s the predecessor of the Super-Tuscan. Dark ruby color. On the palate, dry, medium intensity. medium- tannin, medium acidity, layered, velvety, and balanced, with lots of rich and opulent fruit, but minerally enough to keep me intrigued. Not cheap but this wine rocked.

I’ve always liked this producer, and this wine over-delivered classic Brunello flavors.
