2007 Achaval-Ferrer Quimera

achavalquimeraThis is a multi-region blend of 38% Malbec, 24% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 14% Cabernet Franc aged for 12 months in 40% new French oak before bottling without fining or filtration. Inky purple color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, red plum, blackberry, black currant, graphite, green herbs, wet earth, lots of spice, nicely layered, with some oak, and slight earth. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, very creamy red fruit, medium tannins, medium acidity, with moderate alcohol, nice balance, and a descent finish.
