2005 Muri-Gries Lagrein Alto Adige DOC

This is another wine from Dieter from Triage Wines. I asked him to pick out full bodied reds under $14 wholesale, to learn a little bit more about someone else’s area of expertise. This is a resource I should tap into often as there are many others more learned than me in many areas of the wine world. 05 was great everywhere, with optimal ripeness. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, lots of cherries, chocolate, black licorice, leather, nutmeg, chalky soil component, a foxy dark berry element, serious lilac, neutral oak if any, and a presence of earth. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, leather, loads of spices, cherries, loganberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, medium tannin, medium acidity, with medium alcohol. Ripe fruit, chalky earth with a spicy finish and through in some game. Dieter delivers again. If this sounds appealing to you please leave a comment or something.
