2008 Kistler Chardonnay Les Noisetiers Sonoma Coast

Golden blond color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, lots of yeast, stone, pear, apple, butterscotch, lots of cooking spices, with moderate oak, and some earth. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, medium+ body, medium acidity, Asian pear, baking spices, good bready quality, mineral, with a clean finish. Very nice Chardonnay with good balance and good complexity, I can’t afford it, but I wish I had more of this.

2007 Planeta Chardonnay Sicily

Golden blond color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, mineral, apple, pineapple, butterscotch, spice, with some earth and some oak. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, serious weight, medium+ acidity, beautiful balance, lots of layers, serious wine that made everyone in the room stop and think. I’ve considered this wine one of the best Chardonnay’s in the world, and this vintage delivers.

2006 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrechet Les Folatieres

Golden blonde color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, apple, pear, loaded with mineral, lots of stone, with butterscotch, spices, layered, with lots of oak and earth too. On the palate, dry, medium+ body, medium intensity, medium acidity, I’d call this one a delicious candy bar, layered with mineral, and a whole lot more complex than your average California Chardonnay.

2007 Cote Bonneville Chardonnay Dubrul Vineyard

This is one of the most praised Chardonnay’s in Washington. Golden color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, mineral, flint, yeast, baked apples, pears, butterscotch, with some oak, and subtle earth. On the palate, dry, loaded with big time weight, medium+ acidity, layered with mineral, spice, barrel flavors, and slathered with apple butter. Solid finish, I like the depth, and complexity.

2005 Hartford Court Four Hearts Chardonnay Russian River Valley

I forgot how killer this winery was, and how well their whites aged. Golden color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, apple, pear, soil, mineral, earth, butterscotch, caramel, with heavy layers of oak, and some earth too. On the palate, dry, serious weight, very layered, medium acidity, honey, flint, flowers, apples, toffee, awesome body, awesome depth, with a solid finish.

2008 Woodward Canyon Chardonnay

Pale blond color. On the nose, youthful, medium plus intensity, apple, pear, butterscotch, caramel, bready tones, no earth, with moderate oak. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, medium acidity, nice weigh to it, with moderate complexity, and moderate length to the finish.

2007 Kistler Les Noisetiers Chardonnay

Someone left a three quarter full bottle of this highly prized California Chardonnay. Golden blond color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, apples, pears, white peach, some funk, mineral, hay, bread, layered with butter, spice, and balance. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, loaded with mineral and barrel fermentation, layered and complex, with a rich and polished finish. Although a bit too cold to appreciate at first, Loved it!

2008 Boudreaux Cellars Chardonnay

Platinum blond color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, lots of “wonderbread” yeasty aromas, smoke, flint, butterscotch, slight mineral note, with some oak, and some earth. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, medium acidity, very rich mouth feel, very balanced and delicious, with good length to the finish. I must have more!
