2008 Kistler Chardonnay Les Noisetiers Sonoma Coast

Golden blond color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, lots of yeast, stone, pear, apple, butterscotch, lots of cooking spices, with moderate oak, and some earth. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, medium+ body, medium acidity, Asian pear, baking spices, good bready quality, mineral, with a clean finish. Very nice Chardonnay with good balance and good complexity, I can’t afford it, but I wish I had more of this.

2007 Peter Michael Les Pavots

Dark purple color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, dark, inky fruit, leather, cedar, spice, some oak, no earth, this one was a bit tight, reminded me of a tightly wound rose, that will open one day. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, medium+ tannin, medium+ body, nice balance and acidity. I could see this wine evolving into something special.

2005 Hartford Court Four Hearts Chardonnay Russian River Valley

I forgot how killer this winery was, and how well their whites aged. Golden color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, apple, pear, soil, mineral, earth, butterscotch, caramel, with heavy layers of oak, and some earth too. On the palate, dry, serious weight, very layered, medium acidity, honey, flint, flowers, apples, toffee, awesome body, awesome depth, with a solid finish.

2007 Kistler Les Noisetiers Chardonnay

Someone left a three quarter full bottle of this highly prized California Chardonnay. Golden blond color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, apples, pears, white peach, some funk, mineral, hay, bread, layered with butter, spice, and balance. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, loaded with mineral and barrel fermentation, layered and complex, with a rich and polished finish. Although a bit too cold to appreciate at first, Loved it!

2005 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

This wine just keeps finding me! Purple ruby color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, black cherries, black currants, plum, leather, tobacco, cedar, lots of dairy, no earth to speak to, and lots of oak present. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, medium tannin, medium acidity, layered, balanced, a bit three dimensional, with a solid finish. Most wine consumers loves this wine.

2005 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

Dark purple color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, black cherry, black currant, leather, cigar tobacco, dill, with lots of oak, and no earth to speak to. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, good back-bone, medium+ tannin, with classic black cherry Cabernet flavors, with lots of spice, oak, and a big structured finish.

2006 Martinelli Pinot Noir Zio Tony Ranch RRV

Revisited this wine last night. 15.5% alcohol, with a dark garnet color. On the nose, youthful, darker fruit, plums, blackberries, cherries, loaded with coffee, spice, no earth to speak to, and oak present but moderate. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, thick and creamy berry and coffee flavors, with medium acidity, medium tannin, spicy, a bit hot but enough going on that this wine feels balanced.

2005 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

Wow! The business folk are back, and I know this by the volume at which this wine is being ordered. I also think the 05 Alexander is one earthy and tobacco driven wine and I thought showed more Old World than every other vintage I have tried. Purple ruby color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, violet, black cherry, leather, tobacco, chalky soil and mineral, lots of cigar box, borderline Old World, but the overly judicious oak lets you know it’s all about California. I’ve begun to realize that I like things that are true to themselves. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, almost old world and rustic, lots of leather, tobacco, and chalky earth, followed by black cherry and currant, with medium+ tannin, medium acidity, and a solid well balanced finish. Although a ripe vintage, this wine is shockingly Old World and layered with something I would call delicious but not all that Silver Oaky.
