Spent a while looking for an image of this stunner from yesterday’s Spanish tasting via triage. All I could find was this pretty cool image of a gnarly old vine called Cepa Vieja. Inky fuscia to purple color. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, dense and concentrated, plum, blackberry, raspberry, leather, white pepper, loaded with ripe fruit, and spice, and oak, and framed by a touch of earthiness. On the palate, dry, medium tannin, medium+ acidity, balanced alcohol, explosion of new world fruit flavors, with enough of and earth flavors to match the fruit. Solid finish, will age well, you just don’t see value like this in Priorat.
