2007 Mas de Can Blau Montsant

I hadn’t tried this one and some time ago it slipped on the menu to beef up our Spain section, 35% Syrah, 35% Carignan and 30% Grenache. Dark garnet color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, bright and jammy dark plum, blackberry, raspberry, clove, herbs, anise, leather, vanilla, coffee, no earth, and definite oak. On the palate, dry, medium+ intensity, medium tannin, medium acidity, great depth and balance, where luscious fruit meets rich oak flavors, a lot going on for a medium bodied wine.

A local retailer was showcasing this wine a few weeks back as a Spanish Syrah, and I really liked it.
