One of the most velvety and seductive wines under $15. Ruby color. On the nose, youthful, a bit muted, medium intensity, raspberry, cherry, clove, anise, some oak, and some earth. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, cherry, raspberry, clove, anise, vanilla, very silky tannins, very smooth, with a nice finish.
This could be one of those wines that helps elevate Merlot back to the position it once held as the world’s sweetheart. 70% Merlot, 20% Sangiovese and 10% Montepulciano. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, very ripe red cherries, sour cherries, blackberry, red licorice, dustiness, leather, herbs, serious chocolate, some oak, and rocking the chalky Italian soil component. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, great balance, medium+ tannin, medium acidity, good creaminess that smoothes out the muscularity. Good depth to this everyday drinker that’s a bit more broad and balanced than some of the candy Merlots out there.
