2005 Henri Gouges Nuits St Georges Clos des Porrets 1er Cru

They were pouring this at a Vineyard Brands tasting yesterday, although this wine isn’t available anymore. It was beautiful and and archetypical Bourgogne Rouge. My notes are abbreviated but it’s a speed tasting kind of thing before I go to work. I wrote, medium intensity ruby in color. On the nose, aroma, beautiful combo of strawberry, hay, earth, mushrooms, forest floor, framed by just a bit of oak. On the palate, dry, structured, deceptively long finish. Spendy but this wine will deliver for quite a while.
