2007 Nicolas Potel Echezeaux Grand Cru

nicolas_echezeaux Yesterday was a killer lunch tasting at the Corson Building put on by the generous folks of the Southern Odom partnership. I thought this was the most intriguing wine of the tasting, and offered more mystery than than the rest. On the nose, medium+ intensity, youthful, cherries, raspberries, loads of earth, mushroom, nutmeg, forest floor, all spice, some oak but just the right amount. On the palate, dry, medium intensity,medium- tannins, medium acidity, awesome texture that evolved a lot in the glass, earth tones, soil, graced by some pure red fruit, with serious balance, and love velvety finish. I wish I could afford this wine because it’s going to be awesome.
