Golden blonde color. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, apple, pear, loaded with mineral, lots of stone, with butterscotch, spices, layered, with lots of oak and earth too. On the palate, dry, medium+ body, medium intensity, medium acidity, I’d call this one a delicious candy bar, layered with mineral, and a whole lot more complex than your average California Chardonnay.

Amazing bronzing golden color. On the nose, developed, medium intensity, stones, every kind you can imagine, gun flint, almonds, hazelnuts, stewed apples, wood spice, some oak, loaded with earth. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, medium body, crushed stones, straw, bread, toasted nuts, seamless integration, some fruit left but not much, medium+ acidity, with a long finish. Arguably past it’s prime, but still a good bottle of wine.
Pale straw in color. On the nose, youthful, mineral laden, sea shells, lemon zest, yellow apple, smoke, honey, some oak, and lots of earth. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, briny, tart apple, lemon, bread, butter, honey, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, body, with a solid finish. Crying for grilled seafood, mainly oyster.
On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, flint, wet stone, powdery spice, chalky earth, apple, pear, peach, lots of earth, and lots of oak. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, meyer lemon, sour apple, mineral laden, flinty, bubblegum powder, medium+ acidity, very balanced wine, with a pretty serious finish. I have one more bottle and I think I should let it go the distance. Are there other stelvin closure Meusault?
I first tried this a few years back at a big tasting put on by
Yesterday was a killer lunch tasting at the
Another barrel sample, and kicked up a couple notches in the quality and intrigue factor. On the nose, youthful, medium+ intensity, wet clay, hay, cherry, strawberry, citrus rind, autumn leaves, not oaky, and some detectable earth beautifully woven together. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, silky, light weight, medium- tannin, medium acidity, similar flavor components as nose, incredible balance, with a nice spice finish. This was one of those wines that made me want more, and ponder the notion of being youthful and all wound up, and how much of this complexity will improve with time.
