2003 Manousakis Nostos Red Table Wine

This was my first Greek red wine. I had no idea what the grapes were. Come to find out it’s a Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache blend with a bit of Roussanne blended in, and barrel aged for ten months. On the nose, mature aromas, medium intensity, wild beast, sage, cherries, strawberries, hay, oats, not overtly earthy but something not new world, and some detectable oak. On the palate, dry, medium intensity, red licorice, straw, red fruit, medium tannin, medium acidity, very balanced and fun wine, with a lot going on, still loads of fruit and moderate finish.
