Also had this at the Ginger. On the nose, youthful, medium intensity, melon, stewed apple, honeysuckle, asian spices, minerality, with no detectable oak. On the palate, off-dry, medium intensity, medium acidity, flowers, wet stone, spice, honeydew melon, medium body, with a medium finish. Not nearly as complex as the Pinot Gris I had last week but a nice creative glass pour that paired really well with the cuisine.

1999 Domaine Albert Mann Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg
Shame on this winery or importer for not having better images up, but in their defense, they poured a library 99, when the current release is 05. This was the #1 wine of the 75 that I tried the other afternoon, at a, in my opinion too large trade tasting. On the nose, aging bouquet, of peach, apricot, lime zest, eight different kinds of crushed up stones minerality, and a sternness that reminded me of my third grade English teacher. On the palate, dry, precise, laser-like acidity, massive body for a white, balanced and a long minerally finish. This Riesling lets you know who’s in charge and let’s me see how great this wine gets with some bottle age. Whatever this price this Grand Cru Riesling will continue to give for another decade.
2005 Paul Ginglinger Riesling Grand Cru Pfersigberg
Nice platinum color with some greenness to it, of med- intensity. On the nose, aroma, medium+ intensity, red apple, peaches, nectarine, stone, slate, floral, petrol, and honeysuckle. On the palate, dry, med+ intensity, great minerality, lime zest, nectarine, gas, and floral component. This wine has great structure, and balance, and a long finish. I will seek out more of this. You should too.
2004 Louis Sipp Riesling
This biodynamically farmed Riesling from Alsace kicked some serious ass. This is my third tasting and I have been floored every time. You get to see a piece of how good Riesling can be, and how it can age. Peach, lime, slate, and a classic petrol bouquet drive this wine, with some great acidity. Hope more people can enjoy this wine.
2005 Domaine Zind Humbrecht Gewurtztraminer
Extremely varietaly sound oily leechy nuts, fruit cocktail, dirty slate minerality. There is a tremendous array of flowers and spices. Really interesting nose. On the palate, oily, very mouth coating, fruit cocktail. A bit hot, but there is a lot going on to cover the heat or integrate with it.
