2003 Chateau Puy la Rose Pauillac

I called this a right bank Bordeaux and the blind tasting sunday, turns out it’s left bank, but the blend was 45% Merlot, 45% Cab Franc, 5% Cab Sauvignon, 5% Petite Verdot, weird for the left bank, but made me feel like a blind tasting god. I said it was clear, medium + intensity, ruby in color. On the nose, aroma, med+ intensity, blackberry, black cherry, cassis, dirty leafy vegetal element, pencil shaving, not oaky, but earthy. On the palate, dry, dirty basement, cherries, surprisingly juicy fruit, med+ tannin, med acidity, med+ finish. This wine evolved the most in the hour or so we had it in the glass. Seek it out, this is good Bordeaux without the huge pricetag.
